Helpful Tips
Grab Careem before you land. Karachi and Lahore drivers respond fast. The app is the only reliable ride-hailing game in town. Skip the taxi queue.
Buy the Metrobus card first. One swipe covers Orange Line and every feeder bus. Lahore BRT keeps moving while cars crawl. Keep it topped up.
Rawalpindi-Islamabad Metrobus shoots from Saddar to Pak Secretariat. Dedicated lanes laugh at traffic. Seats fill early. Board at Saddar before rush.
Book Green Line train seats early. Karachi to Lahore in air-conditioned economy. Price beats flying almost every time. Bring snacks. The buffet is basic.
Common Scams to Avoid
At Karachi and Lahore airports, some taxi drivers insist the official prepaid taxi counter is 'closed' or 'too expensive' and steer passengers to private vehicles that later demand inflated fares. Walk past them to the clearly marked government-run taxi or ride-hail booths inside the terminal and insist on a printed receipt.
Baggage porters may grab luggage without being asked and then demand high tips, sometimes blocking the exit until paid. Politely but firmly decline assistance unless you need it, and agree on a small tip in advance if you do accept help.
Currency-exchange kiosks just outside customs sometimes advertise attractive rates on large boards but apply a hidden 'service fee' that wipes out the gain. Compare the amount you will receive on the calculator screen before handing over cash, or wait to use an ATM or bank branch landside.
